South Texas Health System Celebrates Birth of Special St. Patrick's Day Baby

Commemorated globally every March 17, St. Patrick’s Day is a religious and cultural holiday that celebrates the life and legacy of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Over the years, it has grown to be considered a lucky day, with traditions and symbols like four-leaf clovers and wearing green associated with good fortune.

For expectant parents, there may be nothing luckier to rejoice on St. Patrick’s Day than the arrival of a precious lucky charm. That’s exactly what one local family is celebrating this St. Patrick’s Day.

Baby Damian in his cribWeighing in at six pounds, eight ounces and measuring 19.5 inches long, Little Damian arrived at The Maternity Center at South Texas Health System Edinburg at 6:39 a.m., making him the first baby delivered at a South Texas Health System facility this St. Patrick’s Day, leaving his parents cloverjoyed! “He is my little good luck charm,” says Yandy Solis about her third child. “He’s so perfect, and we’re so happy to finally have him here.”

Staff members at The Maternity Center at both facilities are clover the moon to be part of the family’s journey of welcoming Baby Damian into the world, working tirelessly to make the process as smooth as possible. “We consider ourselves to be lucky to be a part of this exciting time for moms-to-be and their families, and it’s truly an honor to be selected as their healthcare system of choice,” says NormaLinda Aguirre, BSN, RNC-OB, Director of Women’s Services and Nursery, Maternity Center at STHS Edinburg. “We’re dedicated to providing personal attention to every patient and their family and bring their newborns into a safe and happy environment.”

In addition to providing the highest level of individualized care, staff have gone the extra mile to make the day extra special for the family with holiday-themed gifts and treats, including a Lucky Charm onesie.

A reflection of its dedication to providing expectant families and their newborns quality, compassionate care, South Texas Health System was named a recent Five-Star Recipient for C-Section Delivery, Hysterectomy and Gynecology Procedures. The awards are a testament of the healthcare system’s commitment to consistently deliver high-quality women’s healthcare and placing the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals for OB/GYN care nationwide.
