Robotic Surgery

With advanced, minimally invasive robotic surgery, patients may experience shorter recovery times, a quicker return to work and normal activities and less scarring.

Compared to traditional open surgery, minimally invasive surgery using the advanced da Vinci® Xi Surgical System may also provide patients with decreased risk of infection, reduced pain and trauma to their bodies and reduced loss of blood during a procedure.

Laparoscopic Surgery

South Texas Health System Edinburg is on the leading edge of minimally invasive surgical techniques. We are the first facility south of San Antonio to offer laparo-endoscopic single-site hysterectomy surgery (LESS). The LESS hysterectomy procedure is considered an evolution in laparoscopic surgery with the entire surgical procedure performed through one small incision made in the belly button, leaving a surgical scar that is virtually undetectable. In addition to less trauma and post-operative pain, LESS surgery means a faster recovery time and a lower rate of surgical site infections.
