South Texas Health System Edinburg was awarded an "A" from The Leapfrog Group's Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grades. The designation recognizes the hospital's efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.

The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the US." The overall rating ranges from one to five stars. The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. The most common overall rating is 3 stars.
